Fundraising/Golf Tournament Committee The Golf Committee is responsible for arranging the location for the annual WBA golf tournament, which is the main fundraising event for the WBA. In addition, the Committee is responsible for working with sponsors, the golf course, the caterers, etc., to obtain the maximum net from the event, which is then divided between the WBA and the chosen charity for the year. The President of the WBA chooses the charity at the beginning of her presidential year, although the new president is installed at the annual meeting in May of each year. Currently no formal Committee members, but any one interested can assist in contacting sponsors, both past and new sponsors, to increase the sponsorship for the tournament, and arrange for give away gifts. In addition, they are more than welcome to join us at the tournament and assist in check in and other miscellaneous activities. Co-Chairs: C. Sei-hee Arii Arii Law Firm LLC (240) 621-0529 Jennifer LubinskiLeitness, Leitness, Friedberg & Fedder, PC(410) 581-7400 jennifer.lubinski@llff.com
Judicial Selections Committee The WBA Judicial Selections Committee interviews applicants for state court judgeships (district, circuit, and appellate courts) statewide. We interview applicants for all judgeships in all the counties of Maryland, unless the applicant chooses not be interviewed by the WBA. The Judicial Selections Committee is composed of members from the WBA and from its local chapters. It is the goal of the Judicial Selections Committee to promote the administration of justice by identifying experienced, fair- minded, and thoughtful lawyers to serve on the bench. Legislation The Legislation Committee sets the Women's Bar Association Agenda for the entire state. While individual chapters cannot formulate their own agenda, all chapters are encouraged to participate in the state Legislation Committee. To become a member of the state Legislation Committee, simply contact the legislative chair or the executive director of the WBA before the beginning of the legislative season. The legislative session begins in January and lasts through the beginning of April. Members of the Committee are asked to select bills for consideration of the WBA's state board. The guiding principle in selecting bills is that the bill should further the WBA mission (you may want to put a link to the mission statement here). It is up to the State Board to decide upon which bills the WBA will take a position. The Legislation Committee will then write position papers that will be sent to the Maryland General Assembly. There is also the opportunity for members of the Committee to testify in person in Annapolis on the bills on behalf of the state WBA. Chairs:
