SHOWCASE PROGRAMS
The WBA offers annual programs bringing its members together for professional development, social gatherings, and recognition of and interaction with influential members of the legal profession and women’s rights. Midyear Meeting & Rita C. Davidson Award Dinner Offered in November of each year, the Midyear Meeting and Rita C. Davidson Award Dinner brings together members from throughout the state to honor the recipient of the WBA’s Rita C. Davidson Award (“Rita C. Davidson Award” a link to the Awards page).
Legislative Reception Each year the WBA hosts a reception, traditionally at Harry Browne’s in Annapolis, for members of the Maryland General Assembly to kick off the legislative session. The Legislative Reception offers members professional and personal networking and development with other WBA members and legislators of the General Assembly.
Annual Meeting The WBA’s Annual Meeting usually takes place in May of each year, and in recent years has taken place in Cambridge and St. Michael’s, Maryland, and Rehoboth, Delaware. The Annual Meeting opens with happy hour, followed by an awards dinner and speaker, on the first evening, with programs or planning the next day. The Annual Meeting is the perfect opportunity for members to socialize in a relaxed atmosphere.
Golf Tournament and Charity Benefit Since 1996, the WBA has hosted an annual golf tournament in June for its members and other bar associations, with the proceeds benefiting a charitable organization. Past charities include House of Ruth domestic violence center, Kidsave International adoption organization, and the WBA’s Bar Foundation (“Bar Foundation” a link to the Bar Foundation page). The Golf Tournament and Charity Benefit provides WBA members the opportunity for relaxed networking and socializing, as well as some golf competition, between the WBA and other bar associations.
