Staff Attorney Criminal Division. The Office of the Attorney General seeks applicants for a contractual Attorney position in its Organized Crime Unit, which handles complex investigations and prosecutions of criminal gang activities, firearms and narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, prison corruption, and violent felonies from serious assaults to serial murders. Assistant Attorney General Maryland 529. The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Attorney General to serve as counsel to Maryland 529, an independent State agency that oversees two college savings programs and one disability saving program established and maintained pursuant to §§ 529 and 529A of the Internal Revenue Code.  Responsibilities include advising the Maryland 529 Board at its meetings; advising Maryland 529 staff regarding compliance with applicable plan documents, statutes, and regulations governing §§ 529 and 529A plans; reviewing and revising plan documents and marketing materials for compliance with applicable rules and regulations; preparing legal memoranda; reviewing agency and Board policies; and providing procurement and personnel advice.  This position also negotiates investment agreements and side letters with investment managers engaged for the Maryland Prepaid College Trust.  Other responsibilities include coordinating with members of the Division’s litigation team to facilitate defense of litigation, developing and presenting fiduciary training programs, and other duties as assigned (Closing Date: August 19, 2022). Administrative Officer II/Actuary Analyst/Investigator People’s Insurance Counsel. The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for the position of Casualty Actuarial Analyst/Investigator the People’s Insurance Counsel (“PIC”). The duties of PIC include the evaluation of all medical professional liability insurance and homeowners’ insurance matters. This includes review and analysis of filings and complaints pending before the Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) to determine whether the interests of insurance consumers are affected. PIC may conduct investigations and request the Commissioner to initiate an action or proceeding to protect the interests of insurance consumers. Contractual Assistant Attorney General Criminal Division. The Office of the Attorney General’s Criminal Division seeks applicants for contractual positions in its Organized Crime Unit, which handles complex investigations and prosecutions of criminal gang activities, firearms and narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, prison corruption, violent felonies, including serial robberies and home invasions, as well as homicides.  The prosecutors will be cross-designated as Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) for the District of Maryland and will work either out of the Office of the Attorney General (in the Organized Crime Unit), the Baltimore Office of the United States Attorney, or the Greenbelt Office of the United States Attorney.  These attorneys will coordinate and collaborate on state and federal investigations and prosecutions, and will work closely with local police departments, federal law enforcement agencies—including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)—and federal and state task forces to identify and prosecute individuals and organizations responsible for committing gun, gang, and drug crimes, and acts of violence throughout the State of Maryland (Closing Date: August 15, 2022). Division Director Comptroller of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General seeks an attorney to serve as Division Director for the Comptroller of Maryland (COMP). The Division Director is the primary legal advisor to COMP, as well as the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission (ATC).  The Division Director also provides legal advice and legal representation to the Board of Liquor License Commissioners for Baltimore City (BLLC). Among other responsibilities, COMP is responsible for administering the fiscal affairs for the State, including, but not limited to, revenue collection, payroll for all State employees, general accounting for State agencies, and oversight of the Annapolis Data Center.  The ATC is responsible for, among other things, licensing for the sale, manufacture, transportation, and distribution of alcohol and tobacco.  The BLLC is responsible for the licensing and oversight of retail alcoholic beverage licensees in Baltimore City (Closing Date: August 12, 2022).
